There is no single best gold detector for everyone in Pakistan. The right machine depends on three things: how mineralised your ground is, how small the gold you are chasing is, and how much you want to spend. Start with your ground

Much of the gold-bearing ground in Pakistan, from the river terraces of Gilgit-Baltistan to the hills of Balochistan, is heavily mineralised. Hot rocks and iron-rich soil make a basic detector chatter constantly. Two technologies handle this differently:

• VLF (very low frequency) gold machines run at high frequencies like 45 kHz or 61 kHz. They are light, affordable and very sensitive to small gold near the surface, but mineralisation limits their depth.
• Pulse induction (PI) and ZVT machines largely ignore ground mineralisation and reach deeper in bad ground. They cost several times more and are heavier.

Garrett (USA) is best known here for the ACE series: the ACE 300i, ACE 400i and ACE Apex. These are excellent general-purpose metal detectors for coins, relics and jewellery, but they run at 5 to 20 kHz and are not built for small gold in mineralised ground.
