Minelab SDC 2300 overview

Minelab's SDC 2300 is a small pulse induction detector based on MPF, or Multi Period Fast, technology. Its 8-inch waterproof Monoloop coil is mounted on a carbon-fibre shaft that collapses to 40 cm, so it travels easily to remote sites and fits in a backpack. Minelab Electronics makes it, and a 3 year warranty applies.

Operation is kept simple, with Normal Mode and Salt Mode and automatic ground tracking that removes manual balancing. Nine LED target indicators work with the audio response, so you see and hear what the coil finds. A 6-pin headphone jack carries the audio, and it works with Koss waterproof headphones as well as Pro-Sonic Wireless Audio.

The detector is waterproof to 3 meters, or 10 feet, and weighs 2.3 kg. Power comes from a rechargeable lithium-ion pack rated for up to 8 hours of searching, or from four 1.5 V alkaline C cells as a backup. The box contains the detector with coil and shaft, the battery pack and charger, and Minelab headphones.
