Identification is shown two ways. Iron triggers the low tone, and the high tone is reserved for coins and precious metals, while the LCD displays four icons: nail, foil, ring and coin. A three-level depth indicator suggests how deep a target sits. Two search modes, All Metal and Iron Reject, plus three sensitivity levels and five volume levels, let you tune the response.

Easy-Trak handles ground balance automatically, so you never set it by hand. The 8-inch single-loop rectangular coil is waterproof to 1 meter. It needs four AA cells, sold separately. Supplied in the box: control unit, foldable shaft, coil, quick start guide, warranty certificate and a pair of camouflage stickers. Nothing else is needed for a first outing except those batteries.
